Mr. Knudtson 9-12 Principal/Activities Director
From Mr. Knudtson 9-12 Principal/Activities Director:
I want to welcome you to John R. Mott High School. I am excited about the opportunity to serve the communities of the Postville Community School District as the High School Principal and District Activities Director.
It has been a great start to the school year. Both staff and students are working hard in and out of the classrooms. We are in to the full swing of things with fall activities and wish all our participants the best.
I would like to share some significant commitments that the PCSD has made toward the improvement of student learning for the 2011-2012 school year. First the Board has continued to support of development of a Professional Learning Community by setting aside time for teacher collaborative team meetings. This year we will complete the Iowa Core Alignment and begin work to identify learning goals. This work will help teachers and students focus on the essential learnings that align with the states Iowa Core Curriculum. The learning goals are what we as a district want each student to become proficient in during your students four years in the Postville High School. The second is the districts commitment to increasing student access to technology. With increased wireless access in the district and the purchase of 90 Mac Computers, staff and students will be able to continue their efforts to successfully integrate technology into the student learning process.
I would also like to share a little insight into my educational philosophy. The following are my personal beliefs when it comes to student learning and today’s educational systems. I will start with my belief that all students can learn. We need to develop opportunities and a system that supports all learners regardless of what level they are at. We should motivate students to achieve their highest level possible. When they reach that bar, raise it higher. My image of a successful learner is one who can use all their knowledge and the tools available to solve problems and become a 21st century learner.
Even as many things continue to change such as the look of our buildings, schedules, and as the instructional practices change, we still continue to have great kids here at Postville. The students are the reason that we are all here and I truly cherish the opportunities to work with them all on a daily basis.
I encourage anyone whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting to stop in at anytime. If you would like to contact me at school, my e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org.
